The teaser of filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter was unveiled by the makers on Sunday (January 26) on India’s 76th Republic Day.

In the teaser, we see veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty’s character, a failing old man with a burnt tongue, recite the Preamble to the Constitution of India, as he walks down a dimly-lit corridor. He then sleeps under a bloodied mural of a young girl holding the tricolour, while ‘Welcome To Bharat’ appears on the screen.

Unconfirmed reports state that the film is centred around the 1946 Calcutta Riots. The Delhi Files is the third of Agnihotri’s trilogy of films, which includes The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files.

Said to be the first of a two-part film, The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter is set to release in theatres on August 15, on the occasion of Independence Day. The film is produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, and presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal and I Am Buddha Productions.
