CGF president Jenkins has informal chat with Indian stakeholders regarding Commonwealth Games

Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) president Chris Jenkins had ‘informal chats’ with various stakeholders during his recent visit to India around the possibility of hosting the Commonwealth Games (CWG).

Jenkins met Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president P.T. Usha and others amid speculation that different cities could be considered for hosting the CWG in case the country got the opportunity to organise the Games for a second time.

“CGF president Chris Jenkins was recently invited to attend the opening ceremony of the National Games in India, taking this opportunity to continue to strengthen ties between India, Commonwealth Games India, and Commonwealth Sport. The CGF recently put out the call for Expressions of Interest for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and beyond, and, during his visit to India, Jenkins had some informal chats around this process,” a CGF spokesperson said in a statement.

As the CWG, which began as the British Empire Games in 1930, will complete 100 years, the CGF has listed its preferences, including providing encouragement to co-hosting the Games within a country and across nations and territories, to attract more member nations to organise the Games.
