‘The Wild Robot’ triumphs at Annie Awards 2025, intensifies Oscar race with ‘Flow’
DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot emerged as the dominant force at the 2025 Annie Awards, securing a staggering nine wins, including Best Feature. The film’s remarkable performance further solidifies its status as the frontrunner in the Academy Awards race for Best Animated Feature.
In addition to its Annie Awards sweep, The Wild Robot also claimed the Producers Guild Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures on Saturday, just a day after winning Best Animated Feature at the Critics Choice Awards. The film’s continued success puts it in a strong position ahead of the Oscars, though Flow, its biggest competitor, remains in contention after securing two Annie Awards for Best Feature – Independent and Best Writing – Feature.
Flow, which previously won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Motion Picture, has steadily built momentum, having also claimed top animation prizes from the New York Film Critics Circle, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the National Board of Review, and the European Film Awards. Additionally, its nomination for Best International Feature at the Oscars could play a crucial role in shaping the final vote.
On the television front, Netflix’s Arcane dominated, winning all seven categories in which it was nominated, including Best Direction and Best Production Design. Other notable winners included Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Dream Productions, and Orion and the Dark, which claimed Best Special Production.
With The Wild Robot cementing its industry support and Flow gaining international recognition, the Oscar race for Best Animated Feature is closer than ever, setting the stage for a big showdown on Hollywood’s biggest night.
