Actor Darshan, out on bail in murder case, breaks silence
Kannada star Darshan, who was arrested in the alleged murder case of his fan Renukaswamy, has opened up on his future projects in a video message. The actor, who was arrested on June 08, 2024, was granted bail by the Karnataka High Court on December 13, 2024.
In the video, Darshan requested his fans not to queue up outside his residence on his birthday which falls on February 16. The actor said his prevailing health condition will not allow him to meet his fans. “I am undergoing treatment for back pain and I cannot stand long hours and greet you all,” he said, addressing fans.
Darshan had signed a film with KVN Productions, the banner behind the highly anticipated film Jana Nayagan, starring Tamil star Vijay and Toxic, headlined by KGF star Yash. The film was supposed to be directed by Prem, with whom Darshan delivered the blockbuster film Kariya (2003).
Darshan said the project is currently on hold. “I have committed a film with veteran producer Soorappa Babu. I had discussed this project with Soorappa Babu long ago and it makes sense to go ahead with that film now. I will team up with KVN Productions after their current films are completed,” he said, thanking his fans for their constant support during his tough times.
The police arrested Darshan after the mortal remains of the 33-year-old Renukaswamy were discovered on June 9, 2024. Renukaswamy allegedly succumbed to injuries after being attacked on the alleged orders of Darshan. The actor reportedly urged his fans to accost and kidnap Renukaswamy for posting derogatory comments about his partner Pavithra Gowda on social media.
