Hillary Clinton, Duffy tangle over DOGE involvement in Transportation Department
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy exchanged criticisms online Wednesday over the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) working with various federal agencies.
In a post on X, Clinton posted a screenshot of Duffy’s announcement that DOGE officials were going to “plug in” and upgrade the country’s aviation system.
“They have no relevant experience. Most of them aren’t old enough to rent a car,” Clinton said, pointing to the reportedly young age of DOGE employees.
“And you’re going to let them mess with airline safety that’s already deteriorated on your watch?” she questioned.
Duffy came back at Clinton in a post of his own.
“Madam Secretary, with all due respect, ‘experienced’ Washington bureaucrats are the reason our nation’s infrastructure is crumbling,” Duffy replied. “You need to sit this one out.”
Clinton responded in another post, pointing to the two recent deadly airline crashes, one in Washington that killed more than 60 people and a second a day later in Philadelphia that killed six.
“US airlines had gone 16 years without fatal crashes. Then MAGA fired the FAA chief, gutted the Aviation Security Advisory Committee, and threatened air traffic controllers with layoffs,” Clinton said. “Now there have been two fatal crashes.”
“Hope your unvetted 22-year-olds fix things fast,” she said.
On Wednesday, Elon Musk announced that DOGE will make “rapid safety upgrades” to air traffic control systems.
