Shah Rukh Khan proudly called himself a star when asked about his possible role as a producer in his son Aryan Khan’s upcoming directorial debut series, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, at an event in Mumbai on Monday.

Shah Rukh unveiled Aryan’s debut series at the Next On Netflix event, where it was officially introduced under the Red Chillies Studios banner. The event was hosted by Manish Paul and comedian Sumukhi Suresh.

The Jawan actor humorously distinguished between a producer and an actor. During his speech, he said, “Mai aise naam ka producer hoon. Mera kya, simple hai yaar. Ye sab producer, director, writer, production, nahi. I am just a Bloody Star. Music better hota. Producer ke peeche thodi na music aata hai.” (Translation: “I am just a namesake producer. My belief is simple. All this—producer, writer, director, production — doesn’t matter to me. I am just a bloody star. Music sounds better with an actor, not a producer.”)

Further in his speech, SRK shared that he had watched a few episodes of the series and loved the content. “I just want to thank all my colleagues who worked on the series. They have done an incredible job. The episodes I watched were extremely funny, and I love humor. People often take offence at my jokes, so I have stopped making them. I have passed this ‘virasat’ (legacy) on to my son Aryan and told him, ‘Go make your father proud,’” he said.

While unveiling the project, Shah Rukh expressed happiness at seeing such a large press gathering after a long time. He also shared his hopes for his children, who are taking their first steps in showbiz. “It is my prayer that even if they receive just 50 per cent of the love that I have been blessed with, it will mean a lot for them,” he stated.

For the event, Shah Rukh Khan sported an all-black outfit, pairing a black shirt and pants with sunglasses. In the visuals, the Jawan actor looked dashing as he greeted fans and the press. He attended the event with his wife Gauri Khan, daughter Suhana Khan, and son Aryan Khan.
