The re-release sensation of the week, Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actor Mawra Hocane’s Sanam Teri Kasam has earned ₹15.75 crore in its opening weekend, beating out even contemporary offerings like Loveyapa and Badass Ravi Kumar.

A romantic drama, Sanam Teri Kasam was originally released in 2016 to a lukewarm response. The film is directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru with music by Himesh Reshammiya (incidentally, also the star of Badass Ravikumar). Its return to Indian theatres has been well-received by fans, with the film crossing its lifetime collections in just two days.

The film earned ₹4.25 crore on Friday (February 7), followed by ₹5.25 crore on Saturday (February 8) and ₹6 crore on (February 9). This took its opening weekend collection to ₹15.75 crore, over 170% higher than its original lifetime earnings.

Mounted on a budget of ₹25 crore, Sanam Teri Kasam earned Rs. 8 crore at the box office in 2016.

Soham Rockstar Productions, one of the banners behind the film, last year announced the sequel of Sanam Teri Kasam.
