‘Deva’ box office: Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Mumbai Police’ remake earns Rs 5 crores on opening day

Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor’s action-thriller Deva, directed by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews, has earned Rs. 5 crores on its opening day, according to tracking website Sacnilk.

The action-thriller, a remake of Andrrews’ 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, stars Shahid as a ruthless cop with no regard for the rule book. Pooja Hegde stars as the female lead.

According to Sacnilk, the 2D Hindi version of the film saw its highest audience turnout in Chennai, with a staggering 39.33%, followed by Hyderabad, with 14%. Unfortunately, places like Bhopal, Surat and Chandigarh registered single-digit figures.

Deva is written by Bobby Sanjay, Hussain Dalal & Abbas Dalal, Arshad Syed, and Sumit Arora. The cast of the film also features Pravessh Rana and Kubbra Sait.

With music by Vishal Misha and background score by Jakes Bejoy, the upcoming film has cinematography by Amit Roy and editing by A Sreekar Prasad. Deva is produced by Zee Studios and Roy Kapur Film.
