The trailer of the upcoming Tamil queer drama Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai, starring Lijomol Jose, was unveiled by the makers on Thursday (January 30). The film is written and directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, known for helming Lens, The Mosquito Philosophy and Thalaikoothal.
In the trailer, we see the repercussions that follow when Lijomol’s character, Sam, reveals her lesbian relationship (with Anusha Prabhu’s character Nandhini) to her parents (played by Rohini Molleti and Vineeth). While Sam’s mother struggles to come to terms with it, blaming it all on Nandhini, her father staunchly believes that he can “change” his daughter and that he can get her married to a boy of his choice (played by Kalesh Ramanand). With her relationship with Nandhini also going through a rocky patch, Sam struggles to hold it all together.

Also starring Deepa in a supporting role, Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai premiered at the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa, in 2023, under the Indian Panorama section.
With music scored by Kannan Narayanan, the film has cinematography by Sree Saravanan and editing by Dani Charles. Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai is produced by Mankind Cinemas in association with Symmetry Cinemas and Nith’s Productions..
Jeo Baby, the Malayalam filmmaker known for helming The Great Indian Kitchen, Freedom Fight, Sree Dhanya Catering Service and the upcoming Kaathal – The Core, is presenting the film along with G Dhananjeyan. Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai is set to release in theatres on February 14 on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.
